Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller Installation - 2024 Subaru Outback Wagon

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Redarc Liberty Brake Controller on a 2024 Subaru Outback. Our neighbor today has a Subaru Outback, and they tow a trailer that does have brakes on it. And so to keep that trailer from pushing the Subaru around on the road, having a brake controller is going to be key. And when it comes to brake controllers predominantly, you probably think of something that mounts up underneath the dash, and that you can hit your knees on, and in trucks, those work out fine, 'cause generally, the dash is a little bit higher. But on something like this, there's not a whole lot of room, and it's gonna be getting in the way. And that's where the Redarc really comes into play. more

Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're installing a REDARC Tow-Pro Liberty in conjunction with an ETBC7, which is an electronic brake controller, and that way we have seven-pole on our 2012 Subaru Outback. Normally, when you think of brake controllers, you're thinking of a module that kinda hangs down, tends to get in the way sometimes of knees or legs while driving. And it really is kind of a large piece. Well, that's where the REDARC comes into play. more

When we're thinking about is putting a brake controller on a vehicle, especially for a vehicle like this the Subaru Forester probably does not have a very high tow capacity. So you can see here. This is a, probably about as big as it's gonna get for towing a trailer with brakes on it. more

Hi there Subaru owners. Today on your 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Redarc's Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller. This comes in two different options. You can purchase it with or without the connector harness. I highly recommend that you get the connector harness because you're pretty much going to need it to be able to plug into the brake controller, and it gives you a nice pigtail to make all of your connections. In addition, if you only have a functioning 4-pole at the back, you're going to need a properly functioning seven way, which we can upgrade and get everything we need to get our brake controller installed using kit ETBC7 here at etrailer. And this is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're gonna be looking at the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90195. Now to help us get it installed, we're going to be using the universal installation kit for trailer brake controllers with a 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat Connector, part number ETBC7.So here's what our brake controller's going to look like, once we have it installed. Now the thing I really like about this one, is the fact that it's going to be proportional, which means that our brake controller is going to apply the brakes the same time and intensity to our trailer as we push on them in our car. Now it's going to do that, because it's going to have an internal inertia sensor that's going to detect the slowing down, or the deceleration, and apply the brakes accordingly. It's also going to have a really nice big display. It's going to be easy to read, but also not blinding when we're driving down the road. If we come over to the side here and hit the button, can actually go through and change the display as well as the brake type. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2014 Subaru Outback wagon, we'll be having a look at and showing you have to install the Tekonsha 00:00:06 Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90885, in conjunction with our e-trailer brake controller installation kit, part number ETBC7.Here's what our brake controller looks like, installed. The Prodigy P2 is a great brake controller because it offers all the functions that you need, without any extra bells and whistles that are going to make it overpriced or make it overly complicated to use. This is a very simple one to operate. You only have a dial here on the left, a button here on the top right, and then your main override on the bottom. We have a nice, easy-to-read LED display, which gives you a C which shows that you are connected and your trailer brakes are working properly, and so is the brake controller. This is a self-diagnosing brake controller, and if you do have an issue, it will display fault codes on the display to tell you if you have a problem, and it guides you in the right direction to get it fixed. This is also a proportional brake controller. What that means by being proportional, that gives you an advantage over time-delay brake controllers, because as you apply the brake pedal, and your vehicle starts to slow down, your trailer brakes will be applied instantly in a matching fashion. more

And to help us get this installed, we're going to be using wiring kit ETBC7. This is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. It's gonna provide braking to your trailer. This is going to be a proportional brake controller, which means that the braking force on the trailer is going to match the deceleration on your vehicle. What that means is that your trailer and your car are gonna slow down at the same rate, as opposed to the time delayed, where your car would slow down, and your trailer may not slow down quite as fast, so that means your car would be slowing down the trailer also. So, you can see, we have our brake controller connected. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon

Today on our 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon, we'll be installing the Curt TriFlex Trailer Break Controller, part number C51140. In conjunction with the E-Trailer Break Controller Install Kit, part number ETBC7. To begin our install, we'll first need to take the 4 pole connector that is previously installed in the vehicle and run it outside. To do this, we'll open up the rear hatch, open up the spare tire cover, remove the center cargo tray and then the carpeted panel on the driver side and the inaudible 00:00:31 spare tire tool holder on the driver side. To remove this holder, we'll need to remove the 2 push pin fasteners. Once they're removed, we'll go ahead an set everything aside for installation later. We'll go ahead and take the 4 pole connector and route it out to the vehicle vent and start routing it over to the center of the vehicle and then down to the hitch. Now we'll go ahead and assemble our new 7 and 4 pole connector. First, install the bracket under the 7 pole connector using the hardware provided in our install kit. By installing the screws, flat washer, split lock washer and knob for all 4 inaudible 00:01:07 points. Next, using the tow ready long bracket, part number 18140, we can secure it to the 7 pole bracket. Now, we'll go ahead and install it onto the vehicle, securing the long bracket with the worm clamp provided to the hitch. Next we'll take the yellow wire coming from our 7 pole connector as we'll not be using this application and cut it off short. Now the white wire with the pre-attached ring turbo will be the ground for our 7 pole connector. However, for this application, the wire is not long enough, we're going to go cut off the ring terminal, strip it back and use a yellow black connector to extend the ground wire. more
